Catalogue

The Automated Catalogue can help you to locate the document collections distributed by different libraries and service points. The Historical Library has not completed the process of re-cataloging its collections, so it is still necessary to consult the manual catalogue at the front desk of the library.

The catalogue page offers several possibilities:

  • Consultation of the Catálogo General allows searching through all the collections using various indexes (author, title, subject, etc.) and even performing an advanced search by chronological periods, language, type of issue, library which holds the document, etc., from the Advanced Keywords Search.
  • The Catálogo de Fondo Antiguo (Old Collection Catalogue) narrows the search among those documents published before 1831 and allows special searches by place of printing, name of printer, publisher and former owners.

The system allows you to perform diverse operations such as add a record to a bibliographic manager like RefWorks or Zotero; limit or refine a search when the results list is extensive; save the list of records to be exported in different formats, or print the list.

We have prepared a tutorial for you to take full advantage of the catalogue’s query function.

In the description of the ancient collection, bibliographies and catalogues used are cited in abbreviated form. To learn about them, please check Bibliography.
